Luskan: Kurth's Lair

Kurth's Lair
1 – EXIT TO THE DOCKS

You can return back to the Docks area from this exit.


2 – PRISON

An Ogre Warden, a priest of Auril and some of Kurth's men have to be fought here. When you defeat them pick up the Prison key from the Ogre's body. The key unlocks Evaine's cell at area #9.


3 – TOLAN LOSEN

A prisoner called Tolan Losen, a former mercenary of Kurth, will tell you some things about what happened to Kurth that made him want to gain the total control of the town. Also Tolan will tell you that Kurth is trying to summon a demon (probably Valeron from the Ruins of Illusk) to aid him defeat the other High Captains. When you are done talking you can free him and let him flee this place.


4 – LIBRARY

Some goblins are torching the bookpiles in this room. You can kill them and save several books if you like reading or let then goblins burn them. In one of the bookshelves you will find a book called Burke's Manual. The book contains information as of how to close the planar portal at area #6.


5 – BURKE'S BODY

A dead body which apparently was the body of Burke contains another book called Burke's Manual like the one you found at area #4. You will also find a smooth token on the body. The token is to be used to close the planar portal at area #6.


6 – PLANAR PORTAL

Creatures from another plane keep coming out from the portal in this room. You must find a way to seal the portal and stop more creatures from getting out of it. Burke's manual suggests that you need to place something in the portal to close it.

You will have to place the smooth token from area #5 and the glowing sphere from area #7. Only then the portal will be closed and you will be rewarded with 150 experience points.


7 – GLOWING SPHERE

A glowing sphere can be found inside the fountain in this area. The sphere is to be used to seal the planar portal at area #6.


8 – HIGH CAPTAIN KURTH

Enter this room and be ready to face Kurth and a priestess of Auril. Kurth is a tough fighter so be prepared. When defeated he drops another prison key, a powerful random magic item and his head. If you decided to kill Kurth for Baram return the head back to Baram to collect your reward. If Kurth is the last of the High Captains then the town of Luskan is free from the High Captain's menace and you will be rewarded with 157 experience points. Don't forget to search the chests in this room for some more treasures and another Prison key that unlocks Evaine's Cell at area #9.


9 – EVAINE

Evaine, the sister of Elynwyd, is held captive in this cell. You will need the Prison key, found on either Kurth's body or on the Ogre Warden's body at area #2, to unlock the cell. Free Evaine and tell her that you were send by her brother to rescue her (she will take Elynwyd's Signet Ring as proof of your intentions). She will then thank you and teleport back to her brother at the Cutlass inn. Be sure to pay a visit to Elynwyd afterwards to receive your reward.


10 – HIGH CAPTAIN'S SEAL

In one of the chests in this room you will find a High Captain's Seal. This is what Aarin seeks to forge you the papers you need to access the Host Tower so be sure to show it to him once you get back to the Temple of Tyr.
