Background
At some point after completing the mission on
Horizon, you'll get a private message from EDI informing you that batarian radicals have taken control of the Javelin Missile base on the moon Franklin, and plan to use it to destroy the human colony on the planet Watson. You'll also learn that the Alliance forces there are "overwhelmed," and so the only hope for the colonists is if you step in and help out. This message will trigger the assignment "Javelin Missiles Launched," which you can also pick up by visiting Franklin and finding the anomaly.
Walkthrough
When you land on Franklin (Skepsis / Sigurd's Cradle), you'll immediately enter the base, and EDI will let you know that you'll only have five minutes to disable the missiles before they strike Watson. You'll be attacked by about a dozen batarians inside the base, including a trio of batarian commanders, but even if you do a lot of hiding, you should still have enough time to kill them.
You'll find the kill switch inside the Control Room. However, when you hack it, you'll learn that you can only disable one of the two missiles, and so you'll have to make a choice. Should you save the colonists in the capital city, or the Alliance interests in the spaceport? This decision won't make any difference in this campaign, but maybe it will change something in Mass Effect 3.
