Walkthrough

When you scan the planet, you'll detect a distress beacon coming from the MSV Corsica, which will trigger the assignment "Wrecked Merchant Freighter." Then when you land on the planet, you'll find ship debris all over the place (along with some credits and platinum), and you'll also find a series of logs, which will indicate that the Corsica had a series of technical problems just before it crashed.

At the back of the crash site, you'll come to the Freighter itself, and when you deactivate the signal transmitter there, mechs (including a heavy mech) will start spawning, and they'll attack you. You'll then need to escape by reaching the shuttle at the Landing Site. As far as we can tell, there isn't a limit to the number of mechs (if they eventually stop spawning, we didn't wait around long enough to see it), so you'll just have to push through their attacks to make it to the shuttle. Then when you get there, the mission will come to and end, and you'll be transported back to the Normandy.
