Walkthrough

When you scan Taitus (Talava / Caleston Rift), you'll detect a looping broadcast that will welcome you to take the "piece of crap mech on this planet's surface." You'll also detect a cache of resources in a nearby canyon, which will trigger the assignment "Mining the Canyon."

When you land on the planet, you'll find a deactivated heavy mech at your Landing Site. To get it operating again, you'll need to hack it, and then you'll need to keep supplying it with power cells, which you'll find scattered around the Canyon (usually located conveniently close to where the mech stops operating). At one point (in Canyon 2), you'll have to kill a pair of varren, but otherwise you'll just need to follow along behind the mech as it does its thing.

You'll only need to power up the mech four times. At the end of its trek, it will blow a hole in the canyon wall, revealing a big hunk of "resources" (in Canyon 5), and then it will explode, deactivating itself for good. When you click on the resources, you'll receive 5000 Platinum, and the assignment will come to an end.
