Background

You'll receive this mission from the Illusive Man after completing the mission at Freedom's Progress.

Walkthrough

You'll learn that the professor, Dr. Mordin Solus, is currently running a medical clinic on the space station Omega (Sahrabarik / Omega Nebula). However, when you get there, you'll discover that the slums district where the clinic is located is currently under quarantine, and nobody is allowed inside. To gain admittance, you'll need to talk to the turian guard outside of the district, and convince him (preferably using the paragon or renegade dialogue options) to let you inside.

Inside the slums district, you'll come under attack from Blue Suns and Blood Pack gang members (including major firefights in Kokomo Plaza), but you'll also meet some people that you can talk to:
  • Batarian victim (in the Gozu District). If you use a paragon interrupt to save him, then you'll gain some paragon points (and later some xp). If you let him die, then he'll drop a PDA worth 2000 credits.

  • Refugees (in Home 3). If you convince them to flee to the Clinic, then you'll gain +5 renegade points or +5 paragon points.

  • Looters (in Home 4). You'll gain +2 paragon points if you tell them that you don't like looters. If you actually convince them to stop looting, then you'll gain +5 renegade points or +5 paragon points. You can also kill the looters, but you won't gain anything if you do.
Eventually you'll come to the Clinic where you'll find Mordin (plus a lot of supplies, including an upgrade). You'll have to use a renegade or paragon interrupt to get Mordin to shut up for long enough so you can tell him why you're there. Once that happens, Mordin will speculate that the vorcha might be working with the Collectors, and that they're the ones responsible for the plague.

As you continue your conversation with Mordin, you'll learn that Mordin has a cure for the plague, but that he needs someone to fight their way to the Control Center so it can be distributed to the populace of the district. He'll also mention that his assistant Daniel left the Clinic to help some batarians, and that he might need rescuing as well. This will give you the "Missing Assistant" assignment. Finally, to help you out, Mordin will give you an M-6 Carnifex Hand Cannon, and you'll automatically equip it.

Note: If you kept the batarian victim alive, and if you tell Mordin about him, then you'll gain 40 xp.

Outside of the Clinic, you'll have to do some more fighting, primarily against Blood Pack gang members. If you use overload (available to Miranda) or incinerate on pyros, then they'll explode, and you'll kill them in one shot. If you use incendiary ammo (available to Jacob) or incinerate on troopers and krogans, then they'll stop regenerating, making them much easier to kill. You might also be able to use your sniper rifle to kill troopers in one hit, making heir regeneration ability moot.

You'll find Daniel in the first home past the Clinic (Home 5). He'll be in a bad situation with the batarians he was hoping to cure. If you use a paragon or renegade interrupt to diffuse the situation, then you'll save Daniel and earn 40 xp, and you'll still be able to kill the batarians or let them go. Otherwise, Daniel will die, and you'll have to kill the batarians. If Daniel survives, then you'll later get a message from him on your private terminal on board the Normandy.

Note: If you save Daniel but kill the batarians, then Daniel will be upset at you, but Mordin will be more pragmatic.

When you reach the Control Center, you'll find it swarming with Blood Pack gang members. Once you've cleared the area, you'll need to put the cure in the computer in the back of the room, and then turn on the two fans. Each time you access a computer or a fan, more Blood Pack gang members will stream into the area, and so you'll need to be careful not to leave yourself vulnerable. Once you've turned on both fans, you'll be transported back to the Clinic.

When you return to Mordin, he'll agree to join your crew, which will unlock the lab on the Normandy. This will allow you to start conducting research, which will give you a need for all of the resources that you've been collecting. Talking to your crewmates now (perhaps twice) will also give you some extra upgrade options.
