Background
You'll receive this mission at some point after completing the mission on
Horizon and after recruiting Samara.
Walkthrough
When you talk to Samara (in the starboard observation deck on board the
Normandy), she'll tell you that she's been chasing an Ardat-Yakshi ("demon of the night winds") named Morinth for the past 400 years, and that Morinth is her daughter. Samara will then inform you that she's learned that Morinth is currently hunting on the space station
Omega, and she'll ask you to go there with her and help her put a stop to Morinth's sex-murdering ways.
When you arrive on
Omega (Sahrabarik / Omega Nebula), EDI will tell you that the "daily death count" on
Omega is too high for her to pinpoint Morinth's location, but she'll suggest that you talk to Aria (#1). Aria, meanwhile, won't really care about Morinth one way or the other, but she'll let you know that Morinth's last victim was a young girl from the apartment complex (#2).
Inside the apartment, you'll meet Diana, the young girl's mother. Diana will tell you a little about her daughter, and she'll give you permission to search her daughter's room. At the end of the conversation with Diana, you'll receive a paragon interrupt to comfort her, and if you take it then you'll gain +5 paragon points.
Inside the daughter's room, you'll find a diary, a note, and a statue. Examining these things will give you some clues about Morinth -- that she likes drugs, dancing, artists (including the elcor artist Forta), and the vid Vaenia -- and you'll also learn the password for the Afterlife's VIP room, where Morinth is currently holding court.
After examining the room, Samara will come up with a plan. You'll go to the VIP room and act as bait, while she watches from the shadows. You'll then need to convince Morinth to take you to her apartment, where you and Samara will ambush her. "You are an artist on the battlefield. You have the vital spark that attracts her. Your power will draw her in."
In the VIP room (#3), you'll meet several people, including Vij, who will tell you about the band Expel 10. Most of the activities with the people in the VIP room will catch Morinth's attention. You can:
- Dance with Waera (paragon).
- Buy a round of drinks from Edwin (paragon).
- Pick a fight with Vertin (renegade).
- Insult Verf (renegade).
- Punch Meln (neutral).
- Help Horftin save a reporter (neutral).
Once you've completed two or three of these activities, Morinth will come over and talk to you, and you'll just need to draw her in (by talking about music, art, and travel) to get her to invite you to her apartment. If you play the conversation wrong, then you'll fail the mission, and Samara won't become loyal.
When you reach Morinth's apartment, you'll have a chance to look around -- which you should take advantage of, since you'll find some items (chess set, pill bottle, sculpture, sword) that will give you clues about her psyche, plus an assault rifle that will give you an
Assault Rifle Damage upgrade.
When you finally talk to Morinth, you'll need to make three dialogue choices. If you don't have enough renegade or paragon points, then you'll eventually succumb to Morinth's advances, but Samara will burst into the room and kill Morinth, thus saving you. If you have enough morality points, then you'll stay in control of the conversation, and when Samara bursts in, you'll be able to choose between the two.
If you choose Samara, then you'll receive +30 paragon points, and Samara will gain the Reave power. If you choose Morinth, then you'll receive +45 renegade points, and Morinth will gain the Dominate power. Regardless of you choice, the surviving character will become a loyal member of your crew, and you'll gain access to both Reave and Dominate with the Advanced Training upgrade.
Note: If you choose Morinth, then she'll pretend to be Samara, and your crew won't notice the difference. The characters are roughly the same (with Reave vs. Dominate being the main difference), so choose whichever one fits your character better.
Another Note: If you're desperate for paragon points, then after siding with Samara, you should ask her if she's ok and tell her that you don't want to leave yet. You can then talk to her again and repeat the conversation, and gain +2 paragon points each time.
